Extraordinary intelligence? For a child it is often rather a handicap
Mrs. Zuzana Hronová in her article published on September 22 in a magazine Magazín Aktuálně.cz highlights advantages and disadvantages of high intelligence in children. The exceptional cleverness of a child does not have to necessarily mean a direct route to success, but it could also mean a lack of society’s understanding and problems at school. The founder of Charitky Mrs. Miriam Janyšková directly answered author’s several questions regarding the extraordinary gifted children.
A high intelligence in children could for many of them mean even a social handicap, not necessarily the inclusion among the elite. The above average intelligent children have different behaviour patterns, specific educational needs and they need to be treated completely individually. In a similar way as physically, mentally or socially disadvantaged.
